Library Virtual Internship (non-paid) – Summer 2021 – The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in Washington, D.C. is seeking a Library and Information Science graduate student for the Summer 2021 term. The FCC Library is a small federal library that supports the information resource needs of the Commission by offering access to legal, legislative, economic, and engineering materials.
As a Library Virtual Intern, you will have opportunities to engage in multiple FCC Library projects, including: migrating legacy material, creating metadata and drafting documentation for an internal agency database; creating and updating digital research guides on topics relating to the work at the Commission; assisting with ongoing tasks such as collection management, interlibrary loans, e-Library maintenance and other access services; answering select reference requests; and assisting with library marketing campaigns and events.
An interest in law librarianship is preferred, but not required.
Scheduling for this position is flexible but must stay between the hours of 8 am and 5 pm, Monday through Friday. Please note – due to COVID-19, this internship will be fulfilled virtually. The FCC Library is happy to work with students and administrators to have the internship cover requirements for field study credit.
