Research Services Librarian

The Society of the Cincinnati in Washington, D.C. seeks a dynamic library professional to manage reader services for a growing collection of rare and modern material focused on the era of the American Revolution. Requirements: Master’s degree in library science, with experience handling special collections and providing reference support in a library setting. Demonstrated writing and public speaking ability. Experience with digitization protocols also required. Additional degree in American history or related field welcome. Familiarity with eighteenth-century American and European history, and teaching experience preferred. Facility in French or other foreign language a strong plus. Responsibilities include assistance to in-house and offsite researchers, management of the reading room and stacks, instruction to classes on using special collections for research, oversight of the Society’s Digital Library, promotion of awareness and use of the library by the public, and providing support for such programs as exhibitions, publications and special events.

Deadline for applications December 14, 2016.

Salary range $45,000-50,000, with excellent benefits.
