Longwood Gardens, Inc., a well-recognized horticultural display garden located in Kennett Square, PA., is seeking a part time Processing Archivist in our Education Department to assist the Archivist and the Digital Resource Specialist with activities to manage and preserve Longwood’s cultural collections. This individual will be responsible for implementing professional best practices to arrange, describe, and control Longwood’s archival, digital, and object collections, and assisting with implementation of new strategic projects. As part of the Library and Information Services team, the Processing Archivist also provides reference and research assistance to staff, students, volunteers and the general public.
This position requires an MLIS or equivalent from an ALA-accredited institution or relevant subject Master’s degree and a minimum of two years of experience in historical or institutional archives arranging and describing archival collections. Experience with digital asset management and/or object collections, preferred. The successful applicant will have very strong Microsoft Excel skills, excellent written and verbal communications skills, strong customer service skills including outreach and relationship building, a keen attention to detail and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
