Barbara (Bobbie) Dougherty (MSLIS 2012), Adult and Teen Services Librarian at the DC Public Library’s Mt. Pleasant Neighborhood Library, was a winner in the 14th annual Morris & Gwendolyn Cafritz Foundation Awards for Distinguished DC Government Employees (called the Cafritz award). The Cafritz award is the prestigious recognition of outstanding work within the DC Government. More information about the award may be found here: http://cepl.cps.gwu.edu/about-awards

David Mao, Deputy Librarian of Congress (MSLS 1998) was one of several speakers at “What Goes on Upstairs: How Library Leaders Think,” a program hosted by the LIS Alumni Association on the CUA campus on February 10th. The other speakers were Richard Reyes-Gavilan, Executive Director of the DC Public Library, Keith Michael Fiels, Executive Director of the American Library Association, and Amanda Wilson, Director of the National Transportation Library. The speakers offered insight into the thought processes and strategies for successful library leadership. A video recording of the event is available:

J. Paul Lomio (MSLS 1982), Director of the Robert Crown Law Library at Stanford Law School from 2005-2015, passed away recently. Please see:
