|RESPONSIBILITIES:||The Manager for Circulation and Acquisitions supervises the Circulation and Acquisitions staff in a fully automated library system environment. Responsibilities include supervising operations of the Circulation Desk (including related cash handling responsibilities); supervising ordering and receiving of library materials; maintaining the College’s physical library collection; and overseeing the Library portion of the ID card system for HCC students, employees, and others.
Duties include, but are not limited to, ordering library materials, supplies, and services; reconciling and monitoring Library accounts while working closely with Finance and vendors; performing supervisory functions including developing annual performance plans; periodic reconciliation of multiple Library accounts; creating and maintaining spreadsheets; negotiating prices and discounts; submitting payment records to Finance; staffing of the Circulation Desk; compiling data for reports; monitoring and adjusting workflows in coordination with Technical Services Manager/Government Documents Librarian; updating procedures and training manuals; maintaining the physical collections; and participating on the Library Management Team.
Other duties include assisting customers and staff with software issues; serving as the backup to the Library’s Administrative Assistant; handling disputes related to circulation, IDs and other matters, and performing other duties as assigned.
This is an exempt, professional staff position reporting to the Director for the Library.
|REQUIREMENTS:||A bachelor’s degree in Library Science or a related field and three years of relevant experience in a library or related setting are required; supervisory experience is preferred.
Applicants will be evaluated on criteria including, but not limited to, thorough knowledge of library practices pertaining to circulation and acquisitions; proficiency in a Windows-based computer environment, including intermediate MS Word and Excel skills; the ability to coordinate, train, supervise, and evaluate the work of others; the ability to compile and maintain current and accurate records and statistics and track budgets; and demonstrated excellence in communication skills and the ability to maintain customer service satisfaction.
Physical requirements include the ability to stand for long periods, shelve books, and use a step stool.
