Law Librarian – LAC Federal – Washington DC

LAC Federal is seeking a senior-level, technical services Law Librarian to serve part-time (up to 24 hours a week) at a small federal agency in Washington, DC. The Librarian will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the library including Cataloging, ILL, Research, Reference, etc. Work must be performed on site.


  • Catalog new materials in all formats according the RDA and AACR2 standards inclusive of classification according to Library of Congress Classification and subject cataloging using the SIRSI Symphony ILS
  • Respond to Inter-Library Loan requests for both borrowing and lending
  • Organize, catalog and preserve archival collections from the agency’s history
  • Ensure that loose-leaf filing is update and accurate
  • Respond to research and reference requests


  • MLS from an ALA accredited institution
  • Ten (10) years of experience in a law library
  • Five (5) years of experience providing research and reference settings in a legal environment
  • Ten (10) years of experience providing original and copy cataloging of monographic and serial materials in a law setting
  • Five (5) years of experience providing complex inter-library loan (ILL) using OCLC
  • Knowledge of Library of Congress Classification Schedules (LCC), Library of Congress Subject Headings (LCSH), and experience with OCLC and an ILS (SIRSI Symphony preferred)
  • Experience with online legal research portals including Lexis, Westlaw, Hein Online, EBSCOHost
  • Experience with Microsoft office suite (at least one (1) year).
  • Ability to work independently to achieve goals and meet client needs
  • Strong time management skills
