In Memoriam: Sally Sims Stokes

It is with profound sadness that we note the passing of Sally Stokes, who died on August 13th. Professor Stokes has been teaching at DLIS as an adjunct professor since June 2005. She taught the History and Theory of Cultural Heritage Institutions and the Art and Museum Libraries summer institute. Sally held a number of professional positions including but not limited to managing the National Trust for Historic Preservation Library Collection at the University of Maryland, White House Historical Association Senior Research Specialist, and staff member at the National Archives. Sally also published several noteworthy articles related to art history.

Sally was a dedicated member of our community. She was passionate about working with students and she enjoyed leading the summer institute where she combined her love of teaching and art. She is survived by her husband, Sam and son Tom.

A gathering of family and friends will be planned at a later date. Details will be circulated once they are known. You may find a link to her obituary on the funeral home website:
