A federal information resource center contractor has an opening for an entry-level, full-time Digital Access Librarian. Primary duties will involve assisting with an ongoing digitization project for a specialized library collection related to health disparities issues. Tasks will include identifying documents, verifying content, linking URLs to subscription content, editing catalog records, and processing documents for scanning services. This person will be trained to occasionally respond to telephone inquiries from the public regarding resource center services and information resources.
A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution is required. Masters in Library Science strongly preferred. Previous experience library database maintenance is a plus. Excellent writing ability and attention to detail required, along with strong Internet and database search skills. Looking for a motivated worker with ability to work independently, in a fast paced, multi-cultural environment. This position requires good verbal communication skills and the ability to interact well with a diverse professional staff and the public. This work requires some physical labor, including pulling documents from higher bookshelves, and occasional lifting or shifting boxes of up to 40 pounds. The position is located in Landover, Maryland, near the New Carrollton Metro Stop. Free parking is available.
