The Washington County Free Library in Hagerstown, MD is seeking a FT Branch Manager (Library Associate II) to staff the Williamsport Memorial Branch Library. This FT position includes working some evenings; must be flexible. Includes medical, dental, vision and retirement plan benefits. A successful candidate must be dedicated, service-oriented professional able to organize, direct and supervise staff, programming, and operations of the Williamsport Memorial Branch Library (area pop. 2,113) to meet the informational and educational needs of that community. Additionally, the ideal candidate should be able to adapt quickly to change, and will be required to work through frequent interruptions. The Williamsport Branch Manager should be a creative problem-solver with a professional communication style.
This Manager should be able to lead the Williamsport team while respecting the perspectives of others. Must have demonstrable experience or significant training in equity and diversity, professional approach to staff and patrons, compassionate and tolerant approach to all library users. Must provide excellent customer service, lead in implementing innovative programming, supervise staff, and establish working relationships with the community as well as the Williamsport Memorial Library Board of Trustees and staff. Coordinate the building maintenance with the Town of Williamsport.
Supervisory experience, working with children, teens and social networking preferred. Some project management experience preferred. Reports to the Head of Branch Services.
Requirements: Bachelor’s degree. Must secure MD Certification within 2 years of appointment. General knowledge of and commitment to the library profession, knowledge of library procedures.
