Babak Zarin (MSLIS 2019) researched sound preservation and amateur archives vis-à-vis “filk,” the subculture of science-fiction-and-fantasy-related folk music, for a paper he wrote in Dr. Jane Zhang’s LSC 677 Cultural Heritage Institutions class. That paper is an article in the November 2019 issue of Journal of Science Fiction. Read “’And History’s Lamps Blow Out’: Preserving the Cultural Heritage of Filk” online.
