Mindy Klasky (MSLS 1996) of Arlington, Virginia, has written the book “When Good Wishes Go Bad,” the second novel of her “As You Wish” series, published in April (Mira Books).

Gary Smuckler (MSLS 1977) retired from Alexandria City Public Schools.  He was a teacher in the English as a Second Language Program and taught U.S. history for immigrant students at T.C. Williams high school in Alexandria, Virginia.  He has been in education for 42 years and plans to continue by volunteering.

In Memoriam: Catherine D. “Kitty” Scott (MSLS 1955) of Washington, DC, passed away on May 17, 2010.  She was the former Chief Librarian and Director of the National Air and Space Museum Library (Smithsonian), and had also served as President of the Special Libraries Association from 1992-93.

Rod Atkinson (MSLS 1990) is now the Head of Research Data for the Knowledge Services Group, Congressional Research Service, Library of Congress. He will have oversight of geospatial information systems research and quantitative analysis performed for Congress. Previously he was the Head of Operations.

Kathy Kelly (MSLS 1994) has been elected to serve as Secretary on the Special Libraries Association (SLA) Government Information Division (DGI) Executive Board for 2011. She also recently published an article in Government Information Pro called “Executive Orders on Contractors Can Protect Library Workers“.
