Two CUA LIS Students Receive ALA 2015-16 Spectrum Scholarship

CUA LIS would like to extend a warm congratulations to Tammeric Itson-Scurry and Melanie Medina for being awarded the 2015 – 2016 Spectrum Scholarships by the American Library Association’s Office for Diversity.

The Spectrum Scholarship is so much more than assistance with tuition. It’s an extensive network of exceptional LIS graduate students and professionals from the United States and Canada. The Spectrum Leadership Institute, conducted during the Annual conference every year and part of the scholarship, is also a wonderful introduction to the profession and ALA, and a wonderful opportunity to get to know some truly dedicated people from whom one can learn and perhaps even work with.

Previous CUA LIS winners have called the experience “amazing,” and believe it to be the best introduction to ALA, becoming friends with and remaining in touch with scholars from their cohort and other years.

Again, many congratulations to Itson-Scurry and Medina! We know you’ll make the most of this experience and find it rewarding!
