Title: Technical Services Librarian
Reports To: Library Director
Duties: Provides leadership, development, coordination, and direction for the following technical services areas: cataloging and classification, processing, authority file maintenance, serials processing, library systems administration, and basic bindery and preservation activities. Identifies, formulates, and assesses technical services goals, priorities, policies, and procedures to ensure efficient workflows and high-quality user experience. Performs original and copy cataloging, using OCLC and SirsiDynix for all types of library materials. Participates in administering digitization projects. Handles basic repair and preservation activities.
Qualifications: MLS from an ALA accredited institution; minimal 1-2 years professional experience; demonstrated knowledge of AACR2, MARC21, LC Subject Headings and Classification; knowledge of current trends in cataloging, RDA, metadata and information retrieval, information technology standards and protocols, digitization workflows, proxy servers, remote patron authentication and relational databases; experience working with integrated library systems, preferably SirsiDynix; knowledge of a foreign language; experience managing digital collections; experience creating/maintaining web sites.
Desirable Qualifications: A degree in liberal arts or humanities; work experience in an academic library; experience managing student aides; reading knowledge of French, German or ancient Greek language; experience with CONTENTdm; experience with basic repair and preservation activities; familiarity with the St. John’s College curriculum.
Compensation: Grade 11, Minimum Salary $46,115.00. Excellent benefit package.
