Reference Librarian – ASRC Federal Primus – Washington, DC

ASRC Federal Primus, a subsidiary of ASRC Federal, provides world-class IT solutions and a full range of facility operations and engineering support services to federal government agencies. Primus has a legacy of successful IT competencies including software development, infrastructure design, implementation and operation on contracts of all sizes. Primus’ facility operations and engineering includes grounds and buildings maintenance, construction, vehicle fleet maintenance, range master services, armory operations and ammunition service, logistics, and other operations support.

ASRC Primus also holds a nationwide contract for library and records management services with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. ASRC librarians, records managers and support staff collect, organize and maintain library and records materials; assist EPA and external customers with document delivery/ILL, reference and research services, etc.

Key Role:

Provide professional level support for client reference, public access, and information management services in multiple formats such as e-mail, web forms, paper mail, phone, etc.
Support content maintenance, operation and updating of a shared knowledgebase of frequently asked questions.
Support the management of user accounts and provide reference and referral services support
Train subject matter experts in the use of the application that supports the knowledgebase and user questions.
Support the preparation of statistical and analytical reports related to reference services, application management, and use of the knowledgebase resources.
Maintain lists of resources, publications, websites, etc. on various environmental topics.
Review and update standard response templates in collaboration with other reference and supervisory staff.
Assist in review of new materials for potential inclusion within the knowledgebase or for potential distribution to staff for current awareness.
Assist in consultation on the development of the upper level Agency web pages, supporting public and staff access via Internet and intranet resources.
Providing input and consultation on upgrades and/or repairs to the website based on user input and comments received
Make recommendations for improvements and enhancements to the Internet and Intranet sites to increase usability and accessibility.
Participate in the team’s consultation with the client related to information management activities.

Basic Qualifications:

A Master’s degree in Library Science or equivalent, and 2-4 years of professional level experience
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in person and in writing
Demonstrated ability to work successfully independently and within a team environment.
Proficiency with spreadsheets, databases, and office applications.
Experience in preparing analytic reports and statistics, use of applications such as Excel, and development of logical expressions and database queries.     
Proficiency with web searching and research.
Experience using knowledgebase management and customer resource management applications.
Experience in customer service, library services required.
US Citizenship or Permanent Resident status and ability to pass a government sponsored background check

Additional Qualifications:

Experience in preparing analytic reports and statistics, use of applications such as Business Objects, and development of logical expressions and database queries.
Experience working within customer resources management and/or virtual reference services applications, such as ZenDesk, Parature, Mosio, etc.
