The Folger Shakespeare Library, located on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., is seeking a dedicated and collaborative intern to join the Education department during the summer of 2019. This intern will assist with a range of important projects, including a new online platform for teachers, a teacher membership campaign, and our student Shakespeare festivals.
This intern will contribute to the mission of Folger Education by completing various responsibilities, including but not limited to the following: collecting, organizing, and storing content for Forsooth!, our new online community for teachers; tracking user engagement on Forsooth!; entering and maintaining data in our online teacher database; and supporting the planning and execution of the Secondary School Shakespeare Festival and Children’s Festivals. The intern will be responsible for preparing welcome packages for new teachers, participating in Folger Education staff meetings, and supporting day-to-day administration and operations as needed. Additionally, the intern may assist in the planning and execution of teacher professional development, including the Teaching Shakespeare Institute: Summer Academies.
Candidates must be currently enrolled students or recent graduates with a commitment to outreach and education, and be able to commit to a regular weekly schedule of up to 16 hours per week during normal business hours. Our ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, an eye for detail, and a desire to learn. A strong sense of initiative, open-mindedness, and curiosity is needed to succeed. A desire to work on a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, and collaborative team is a plus. A sense of humor is a must.
