Jannie R. Lynn Scott (Scottie) Cochrane (MSLS, 1980) retired April 4, 2013, as Head Librarian/Project Manager at the Census Bureau Library. Scottie’s 18 months at the Census Library came after her first retirement as Director of Libraries at Denison University, Granville, Ohio after 10 years there. Prior to Denison, she was Dean for Library and Learning Services at Marymount University, held a variety of positions at Virginia Tech, Virginia Commonwealth, the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay, and Penn State. In 1979 she held an internship at the White House Information Center during the Carter administration. Scottie also earned a PhD in Public Administration and Policy at Virginia Tech in 1998, writing her dissertation on the presidential library system in the National Archives and Records Administration. Volunteering at the Library of Congress, taking Spanish & ukulele lessons, and traveling via home exchanges are on her new agenda.
