Library Technology Specialist
Base Pay $35,303.00 – $51,554.00
Position Summary Information
The Library Media Specialist enhances user access to information by providing reference services and library instruction classes in research and information literacy. Assists with the creation and revision of research guides, manuals and other instructional tools. Coordinates and supports services and resources in the library’s multimedia room, including the maintenance and updating of multimedia equipment available for lending. Liaises with campus/ college entities in maintaining up-to-date resources for students with disabilities. Provides technology support to students, faculty and staff and assists the Technology Librarian in the selection and implementation of new technologies and services. Hours of work, Mon – Fri 8:30am -5:00 pm with some Saturdays.
Bachelor’s degree and 18 graduate credit hours in library science, or equivalent training & experience.
ALA accredited masters degree in Library/Information Science. Academic library experience. Teaching experience. Public service providing reference. Experience with course management software. Experience in using graphic design, video editing and web development software. Supervisory experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Good knowledge of library resources, classification, databases and service goals. Ability to teach information literacy classes. Knowledge of collection development. Strong communication skills and commitment to public service. Strong computer aptitude and experience with emerging library technologies. Skilled in MS office. Knowledge of graphic design, video editing and web development software. Physical ability to reach shelves from 5’ to 80’ in height with a stool and to lift books up to 15 lbs.Strong writing skills. Flexible self-starter and ability to work with diverse clientele
