The Federal Circuit Library has an opening for a full-time library assistant.
The position is posted at the CL 23/CL 24 level, depending on qualifications and experience.
The duties include, but are not limited to the following:
In coordination with other library personnel, the incumbent will provides assistance to judges, legal staff, court employees, and library visitors. The work includes the following:
Performing collection maintenance in the main library and satellite locations, shelving, shifting of library materials under the supervision of a librarian, filing updates as needed, and shelf-reading in all library locations.
Utilizing a personal computer and various software applications (e-mail, word processing, spreadsheets, content management system, and the integrated library system (ILS)) to accomplish work.
Providing prompt and courteous customer service to library patrons in person, by phone, and via email.
Operating copiers, scanners, fax machines, and other office equipment to complete tasks. Answering and transferring phone calls and relaying messages. Circulating library books and periodicals.
Performing clerical tasks associated with procurement of computer assisted legal research passwords (such as Westlaw, LexisNexis, etc.), and corresponding by phone and email with vendors and password requestors.
Assisting with the inter-library loan process; picks up and delivers nearby loans. Adding materials to, and removing materials from, the collection according to prescribed procedures.
Sorting and filing legislative documents, legal publications, and microfiche.
Preparing and filing correspondence and providing direct administrative support to the Circuit Librarian.
