Job Description:

Germanna Community College is seeking an innovative and collaborative individual to join the library faculty.  Under the guidance and direction of the Library Coordinator, the responsibilities of this position include: maintaining uninterrupted access to the library’s electronic resources, compiling and maintaining current database usage statistics, developing digital and print instructional materials, collaboratively designing, teaching, and assessing course related information literacy instruction sessions, incorporating effective pedagogical approaches into library instruction sessions, delivering professional reference services, selecting materials for the library collection to support the college curriculum, and maintaining effective communication with faculty, staff, students and the community.

This is a 12 month professional faculty position. Appointment date: Immediately. Open until filled.

Salary: Based on experience and credentials, plus State benefits.



  • ALA-accredited Master’s in Library Science degree
  • Experience collaboratively designing, teaching, and assessing course-related information literacy instruction sessions at the college level
  • Experience employing a variety of pedagogical approaches in teaching information literacy at the college level
  • Experience providing professional reference services
  • Experience using word processing and spreadsheet applications to create and maintain documents and spreadsheets
  • Experience using Learning Management Systems, such as Blackboard
  • Experience designing digital instructional materials using screen recording software, such as Jing or Camtasia
  • Experience designing digital instructional materials using content management systems, such as LibGuides
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends as needed
  • Availability to work at all Germanna campuses and centers as needed.


  • Experience using Integrated Library Systems, such as ALEPH, to produce reports or lists
  • Experience compiling and maintaining current database usage statistics
  • Ability to analyze and report on trends in database usage statistics
  • Experience troubleshooting electronic resource access issues
  • Experience promoting library resources and services through outreach efforts
  • Knowledge of current and emerging learning technologies and their application to library instruction
