Alyssa Strouse Valenti (MSLS 2007) co-authored a chapter called “Embedded Librarians: Evolving and Expanding in Higher Education,” in a new Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL) publication, Virtually Embedded: The Librarian in an Online Environment, for which CUA LIS Professor Dave Shumaker wrote the Foreword.  See: http://www.alastore.ala.org/detail.aspx?ID=10889

Louis C. Abramovitz (MSLS 2005), Library Manager at Wilkinson Barker Knauer, LLP, authored an article featured in the February 2014 issue of AALL Spectrum, “Leveraging Your Unique Skills (no twerking required).” In the  article, he discusses various ways in which law librarians can add value to their firms or organizations by taking on non-traditional roles.  Keith Ann Stiverson (MSLS 1977), director of the law library and senior lecturer at IIT Chicago-Kent College of Law in Chicago, has been elected president-elect of the American Association of Law Libraries (AALL).  Her one-year term will begin in July 2014.  In July 2015, Stiverson will then be named AALL President. 

Stiverson has been an AALL member throughout her career.  She has been active in AALL’s efforts to ensure permanent public access to legal materials and recently served on the Task Force on the Federal Depository Library Program.  Stiverson also serves on the Government Policy Advisory Group and received the AALL Presidential Certificate of Merit in 2001, 2007, and 2011.  She has also chaired two of AALL’s policy committees, Copyright and Government Relations.

 “Law librarians are uniquely qualified to help the organizations we serve find new ways to meet the economic and technological challenges we face, and I am happy to have this opportunity to help lead the association at this critical time,” Stiverson said.
