AGLISS is planning our first ever Common Read for current and incoming students! Students will receive copies of the selected book at our annual holiday party (and during the spring orientation!) and participate in discussions throughout the spring semester. The reading will aim to help new students transition into the community by connecting them with current students and to the intellectual life of the Department.
We are now selecting the Common Read for the 2015-16 academic year, and we want your votes and suggestions. Please vote for one of the books on our website or suggest another for consideration! Cast your vote by November 10. AGLISS will count the votes and announce the final selection.
These are the three books we are considering (and we are open to suggestions, too!):
- The Shallows: What the Internet Is Doing to Our Brains, by Nicholas Carr
- Critical Journeys, by Robert Schroeder
- Networked: The New Social Operating System, by Lee Rainie
Thanks for your participation, and have a great weekend!
