Towson University seeks an energetic, customer-oriented library associate for a part-time, temporary position to provide evening reference, research and technology assistance in a high-demand environment to a diverse community of students, faculty, staff and members of the community. As a member of the Research & Instruction Department, this associate provides library services to support learning, teaching and research at Towson University.
Regular hours for this temporary, part-time position are Sunday – Thursday 6pm – 10 pm from October – mid-December 2014.
Responsibilities: Provide in-person, phone and online reference, research and information assistance; provide assistance with library technology and the use of software; troubleshoot computer and printer problems in the Learning Commons; participate in selected projects and initiatives for the Research & Instruction Department.
Requirements: Bachelor’s degree, experience using library research databases and assisting library patrons required. Proficiency with new technologies; ability to work independently and collaboratively; excellent oral and written communication skills required. A criminal background investigation is required for the candidate hired. The position is contingent on funds being available at time of hire.
Salary: $17 – $20/hour depending on qualifications.
