Elementary Age Services Supervisor (Librarian II) Our families come to our libraries for more than just storytimes. Our sta are more than just book peddlers. We believe in connecting individuals and groups to information, ideas and experiences in any way possible, and we are looking for an innovative librarian to help strengthen our ability to meet our customers where they are. We want you to take our services for elementary age children to new heights and increase our ability to reach new audiences as our Elementary Age Services Supervisor. We are a library committed to community engagement in our city that spans 430 square miles in SE Virginia. We are continually looking outside of our walls and evaluating how we can be most relevant and eective in a community that is quickly changing. Our Youth and Family Services Department are the front lines in programming and outreach for children ages 0-18 and their caregivers, and their depth of knowledge and passion for community service sets the tone for much of what we do. Our expansion of elementary and tween services, #librarymade2016 maker initiative and the development of our STEM and technology programming are just the beginning of exciting new projects that you could help lead. You are a passionate advocate for community-focused library services and are never satised with the status quo. You have a deep knowledge base of best practices for serving families both from within and outside of the library world but are not afraid to champion new approaches. You have your nger on the pulse of educational best practices but understand that above all else, learning and libraries should be fun. You love working collaboratively and developing new and exciting ways in which to expand the library’s reach. Qualications Master’s degree in Library and Information Science or closely related eld, 3 to 5 years of related library experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.
