COA decision: Continued accreditation

The Department of Library and Information Science has been notified that the Committee on Accreditation (COA) of the American Library Association has voted to grant Continued accreditation status to our program leading to the degree of Master of Science through 2023. The COA’s decision was made at their June 26 meeting, and was based on our Self-Study, the External Review Panel (ERP) Report and our response to it, along with all of the reports submitted to the COA since the last review.

We thank the faculty, staff, LIS Advisory Board, and students for their hard work and contribution to the Self-Study. We are also grateful to the students, alumni, faculty, staff, partners, employers, and friends who participated in the accreditation events during the ERP visit in April. We learned a lot about ourselves in the re-accreditation process and are confident we will continue to thrive in this dynamic and exciting information environment.

Thanks again!

Best wishes,
Ingrid Hsieh-Yee and John Convey
