Bibliometric Services in the Library: From citation impact to network analysis
Librarians at academic, corporate, and medical libraries are increasingly being asked for assistance in evaluating the scientific research produced at their institutions. Many researchers and administrators have used bibliometrics analysis as an effective method to provide evidence of their research impact. Librarians who can provide bibliometric support and training for such groups will find these skills much sought-after. The instructor of this workshop has offered dozens of training workshops at many national and regional library events.
In this course, attendees will learn about how to perform basic bibliometric analyses, including measuring citation impact and creating bibliometric networks. Web of Science will be used for general citation impact analysis. Science of Science tool (https://sci2.cns.iu.edu/user/index.php) and Gephi (https://gephi.org/), two free programs, will be used for network analysis.
Dr. Ya-Ling Lu earned her PhD in Information Studies from UCLA. She is currently an Informationist at the NIH Library, providing support in the area of bibliometric analysis and research assessment.
Seats limited to the first 20 respondents. Please RSVP by October 10.
