On November 8, 2014, members of the ASIS&T CUA student chapter and several community members met at Cardozo High School in Washington, DC.
Cardozo librarian, Megan Reichelt, faced a storage closet filled with special collections and older books. Volunteers weeded 50 storage boxes and sorted books for classroom libraries, donations, and potential additions to the library’s collection. Volunteers identified the library’s Black History Collection and uncovered two boxes of Nook e-readers, which the librarian was unaware of having.
The 10 volunteers took home CUA cups and Frisbees and enjoyed pizza for lunch. ASIS&T CUA student chapter is planning a similar event for the Spring semester.
