Alumni News: September 2010

Katy Rose Resnick Taylor (MSLS 2009) announces the birth of her first baby girl, Genevieve Olivia Taylor, born on June 8, 2010, in Silver Spring, Maryland.

Tisha M. Zelner (MSLS 2000) was the recipient of the University of Southern Mississippi’s biennial Excellence in Librarianship Award in 2010. She was also promoted to Associate Professor, effective July 2010. She continues to serve as Head of Information Services at the university’s Cook Library in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.

Mathilde Rovelstad (MSLS 1960), who served as a professor of library science at Catholic University of America (CUA) for thirty years, passed away on July 2, 2010. Dr. Rovelstad had received a SLIS Lifetime Achievement Award from the SLIS Alumni Association during a celebration of the SLIS 25th anniversary as a School during 2006. With a major gift made in 2004, Dr. Rovelstad established the Mathilde & Howard Endowed Scholarship, to provide tuition assistance to academically qualified graduate students in SLIS. A memorial celebration of Dr. Rovelstad’s life will be held Saturday, October 23, 2010, at 1 p.m. in the chapel at Caldwell Hall on the CUA campus.
