Alumni News: October 2008

Four new members have been added to the CUA SLIS Alumni Board for the 2008-2009 board year: Fran White (MSLS 1998), Director of the Center for Teaching, Learning, and Technology at Goucher College, who will serve as Vice-President/President Elect; Jenny O’Shea (MSLS 2008), a librarian at U.S. News and World Report, who will serve as a Director; Rachael Roan (MSLS 2008), a Librarian at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, who will serve as a Director; and Jennifer Krafchik (MSLS 2006), Collections Manager at Sewall-Belmont House and Museum, will serve as a Volunteer.

Jeff Prater (MSLS 2006) is now the Associate Librarian at Mount Vernon Estates and Gardens.

SLIS Adjunct Professor and FEDLINK/FLICC Director Roberta Shaffer, and Jeff Prater (MSLS 2006), will receive an award as co-winners for Chapter Event of the Year on October 26th from the National ASIS&T Chapter Assembly for “Working Together, Working Differently. How Millennials are Changing the Way other Generations Learn, Interact, and Do Commerce”.

A SLIS trio now leads the Potomac Valley Chapter of ASIS&T. The Potomac Valley Chapter of ASIS&T elected Jeff Prater (MSLS 2006) to his second term as Chair.  Tiffany Smith (MSLS 2007) is the Vice-Chair, and Monica Fulvio (MSLS 2005) is the Communications Officer/Webmaster.

Mike Yared (MSLS 1996) has worked as a librarian at the Institute for Defense Analysis, a federally-funded research and development center in Alexandria, Virginia, for 10 years now.
