Annie Simpson (MSLIS 2006), US Geological Survey Biologist and Information Scientist, was chosen to serve as Co-chair to the Federal inter-agency Science.gov Alliance, a gateway to government science information and research results. Currently in its fifth generation and celebrating its 10th anniversary in 2013, Science.gov provides a search of over 50 scientific databases and 200 million pages of science information and is a gateway to over 2100 scientific Web sites. Ms. Simpson has served as the USGS Technical Lead to Science.gov since the start of this interagency initiative of 16 U.S. government science organizations within 12 Federal agencies.
James Patrick Timony (MSLS 2004) was the 2012 recipient of the Raymond Von Dran Memorial Award on April 20, 2012, during the annual SLIS Stone Lecture. The award is presented annually to SLIS alumni in recognition of their qualities of innovation, collaboration, and leadership in the library and information science profession. Timony is the Adaptive Technology (AT) Librarian in the Adaptive Services Division of the DC Public Library. In this job he maintains a knowledge of trends in the field of AT, trains staff and customers in the use of AT, and coordinates events for customers, staff and professionals in the AT community.
